Now that seniors are receiving the COVID vaccine, many having already received both doses, families are likely to feel more comfortable to visit. My concern is, discussions about elder care have been put on hold a full year. If you plan to visit a loved one and already had concerns prior to COVID, you may be in for a shock-a-roo when you open the door. While I normally provide this infographic for annual holiday trips home, I think it absolutely applies under these circumstances as well. And while I wouldn’t recommend your first visit to be a discussion on care, because let’s face it – we all need to savor the moment of togetherness, it is a good time to subtly re-assess and decide on the urgency of the situation.
